California rolls ^.^

A very simple video recipe of raw vegan sushi rolls. It was yummy, but too little - I need to buy more nori ^.^

Recipe.

And some photos.

A book of Finnish poetry about horses that I found in a library ^^ It's called “I'm a relative to horses”.

Crocuses in our flowerbed.

Our recent guest. I didn't expect a hawk in our town. When hubby saw him, we glued ourselves to binocular and spent a very long time watching the bird from our window. Luckily the hawk didn't attack any of our wild friends. It sat near our house for about 40 minutes and then left. I still don't believe it all actually happened.

  1. California rolls might be a good choice for vegetarian guests. What is pate made of? Instead of pate I'll use rice anyway. Did you use miso or soybean paste?
Well I couldn't tell which is a hawk if I should come across the ones but it seems quite unusual to find the ones in town. You are so lucky!

    1. I usually use rice as well, but I like to try new meals ^^ Her pate is made from soaked sunflower seeds and almonds, there is a video recipe for that too:

I didn't have light miso, only dark one, and I wasn't sure if it's not too strong for it, so I skipped it. But I dipped rolls in shouyu, I love it ^^

  2. Sushi without fish? That's like chocolate without cocoa! :D

I'm just teasing. I don't like sushi. That's a terrible confession from someone who loves Japan so much, but ... there you have it.

Vegetarian sushi, though, is a whole nother story. ^^

    1. Some people replace cocoa with carob. I haven't tried it, I don't have anything against cocoa, but it seems there's a replacement for everything :)

I was at first reluctant to try rolls, but nori is so delicious ^^ Why didn't I try it earlier?

    2. I've tried carob but ... well ... sometimes the original is better! :D
