In search of a song


My husband hummed a familiar tune the other day. Something I heard in an old Soviet cartoon that he didn't watch. I said, “How do you know this Russian song?” But he swore it wasn't Russian and played me this:


But! That's what I heard in the cartoon “Nu, pogodi” (jump to 2:33) in childhood:


He found the original song, it's called Popcorn:

“"Popcorn" is an early synthpop instrumental, composed by Gershon Kingsley in 1969 and first appearing on his album Music to Moog By.”

and

“In 1972, Hot Butter's rerecording was a huge hit in many countries. "Popcorn" has since been covered by a great number of artists.”
